Author

Paul Walsh of Do Shin Ken Yu Kai Bolton is the Author of this Subdomain about Nito. He is a keen Kendoka who started Kendo in 2001 and became interested in Nito after a trip to Japan in 2004.

After watching a senior (but unknown to Paul) Kendoka fence in the Butokudan in Kyoto the idea and dream of Nito was planted.

The first tenative steps into nito were taken beacuse of the usual reasons.

  • It looks cool
  • It looks fun

First experience of using Nito

  • YAY! I'm beating people
  • Whoa I dont know what I'm doing...
  • I hope I'm not hitting too hard...

Paul still trains in Itto Kendo and has no plan on changing this, but whenever he can will get out the "Salad tossers" and will train and fence with whoever will endure his fumblings.. :-)

Reason for this site

This Site came out of an idea for Paul to have a Log of information to look back on and track progress.

It is also a hope that this site become a mini repository of Nito in English. After surfing the net, searching bookshops it was realised that there is not a lot of info available out there, especially to those who do not have a Nito instructor.

Please feel free to submit ideas, corrections or ask for information /pictures to be removed. The aim is to have a factual not a fanboy/geek site, and to have something that is of use.
